Dorothy Spicer (nee Vornbrock), wife of the late Ralph Spicer, of Creston, BC passed away peacefully, at the Creston Valley Hospital on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 86 years.
Dorothy, the youngest daughter of John and Elizabeth Vornbrock, was born on December 23, 1935 in Lethbridge, AB. Dorothy spent her early years growing up on the family farm helping with daily chores, reading, and writing. After Grade 12, Dorothy went to Calgary to begin her teaching education. After two years of training, Dorothy began her teaching career at Grain Community School and later transferred to Coutts.
To finish her degree Dorothy attended the university of Alberta and later taught in Calgary, Banff, and Lethbridge,AB. After 32 years of teaching, Dorothy retired and moved to the Creston Valley area with her husband, Ralph. Here Dorothy spent the next 30 years enjoying gardening, hobby farming, and taking care of her many dogs and cats.
Dorothy loved to read and throughout her life she read and collected books from a variety of authors. Often Dorothy would reread and would say “ there is nothing better than a good book”.
Dorothy will be forever in the hearts of her sister, Mildred Thiessen of Coutts, AB, her nieces Debra (Don), Michelle (Steve), Kelly and her nephews Randy (Joan) and Bruce.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Until we meet again….
