Jason Meidl

Jason was born and raised in B.C.  He settled in Creston, B.C. where he completed his apprenticeship and graduated from the Canadian College of Funeral Services in 2017. He is passionate about the funeral service and enjoys serving his families. Jason and his family moved to Cranbrook in 2018 and have now returned to the Creston Valley; which holds a very special place in their hearts. Jason and his team look forward to the privilege of serving both families and the community in their time of need.  

Jason served as a volunteer firefighter in the Creston Valley for 5 years and while living in Cranbrook served as a Library Trustee for the Cranbrook Public Library.

Jason currently volunteers as a member of the Creston Valley Rotary Club, Vice President for the Creston Valley Hospice Society, and as a Director for the British Columbia Funeral Association.

Alicia Kemle

Office Manager / Apprentice Funeral Director / Partner

Alicia was born and raised in Creston, BC. She has seen many changes in the town throughout the years and has appreciated watching the community grow and thrive.

Upon completion of her schooling in Calgary, AB, Alicia returned home and joined forces with her father, Dennis Kemle, at the family owned and operated funeral chapel for three years. Alicia has also completed her certificate in the Medical Office Assistant program from Camosun College in Victoria, BC and her Bookkeeping Certificate from Okanagan College in Vernon, BC.

Volunteer and community projects include coaching girls volleyball, participating in the local hockey billet program and supporting an elder to remain independent living.

Throughout the years Alicia has worked in many different fields from flower arranging to office manager at a health clinic, giving her a diverse and versatile skillset. On a personal level, Alicia has always enjoyed helping and serving people, especially in their time of need.

Dennis Kemle

(Retired) Funeral Director

Dennis moved to Creston in 1980 and began his career in the funeral business in 1982. Apprenticing under the watchful eye of father-in-law George Oliver, Dennis graduated from BCIT in 1988 from the Funeral Director and Embalming Apprenticeship course.

As well as being a licensed funeral director and embalmer, Dennis was employed as an Embalming Evaluation representative with the FSABC for approximately three to four years overseeing the embalming procedure of the apprentices in the Kootenay and Columbia area.

After the semi-retirement of George Oliver in 1990, Dennis obtained the position of manager of the local funeral home which involved managing the funeral chapel, funeral directors and office staff, until his retirement in 2015. Dennis also currently holds his Crematorium Operators License in British Columbia.

In addition to managing the funeral home, Dennis was involved in community affairs, serving as a member of the Creston Rotary Club for 28 years, chairing the Creston Rotary Splash park four years project and involvement in many Rotary projects.

Krystle Meidl

Krystle moved to Creston in 2008 and has been working as a registered nurse in our community. She is married to Jason and they have two beautiful girls. Creston has always been a special place and after 2 ½ years away she was grateful to be able to move “home” and serve this community.  Working with Creston Valley Funeral Services and walking alongside those in their grief is an honour and privilege.

In her spare time she has a passion for living a healthy lifestyle which includes running the trails with friends and growing and preserving her gardens.

Hans Bringmann

Funeral Attendant

Hans was born and grew up in Germany. After working for eight years in West-Africa, Hans went on a nine-month exploration of Eastern Canada. He fell in love with Canada and applied for immigration. His application was granted and in the summer of 1998 he immigrated. As he hadn’t experienced Western Canada, he decided to fly to Vancouver and explore this part of the country. He fell in love with the Kootenays and all the beauty and abundance they offer. 

While living in Riondel, he started, once again, to play tuba in the Many-Bays-Community-Band. In that band he met Laura, a trumpet player from Creston. In 2010 Hans moved in with Laura in Creston and a few years later they got married. 

Hans took the Care Aide and Activity Assistant programs at College of the Rockies and worked with seniors at TAPS (Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors) and at Swan Valley Lodge.

Hans still plays his tuba in the Creston Community Band and in the Kokanee Brass Quintet. He enjoys many of the outdoor activities our beautiful Creston Valley offers. 

Hans feels honoured to be part of the Creston Valley Funeral Services' family, supporting their clients during such difficult times.

Meet Bella!

I am a fairly new member of the team and am a cocker spaniel. I love to greet you at the door and if you give me permission I will come in for a cuddle. I am still learning and can be quite timid with new people. I hope to bring some comfort and peace to those grieving the loss of loved ones.

Sarah works as part of our aftercare program reaching out to our families after services to check in on their well-being. Her greatest passion is to help and serve those in her community. She also enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.
