It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Jochen Schoof on July 13, 2021, in Creston, BC at the age of 80 years.
Henry was born on December 2, 1940, in Rostock, Germany to parents Irene and Gunter Schoof. He immigrated to Canada in 1967. He met his wife Rosi in 1979 and they were married in 1985. They moved to Creston in 1993 and purchased the DOWNTOWNER MOTOR INN, which they operated until they sold it in 2007.
Henry belonged for many, many years to the Lions Club and joined the Creston Lions Club in 1993. He was also a member of the Creston Rotary Club, as well as being a Mason and Shriner. Henry started the Creston Heide Club (a German/Canadian Club) and was president for 15 years. He was a member of the Creston Valley Blossom Festival Committee for several years. Henry enjoyed helping the students at Adam Robertson Elementary School (A.R.E.S.) with a reading program three times a week for 15 years.
Henry received the Queens Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012 and was Creston’s Citizen of the Year in 2013. In his spare time, Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, and traveling.
Henry was predeceased by his parents Irene and Gunter Schoof.
Henry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosi, stepson Klaus, as well as all his friends.
No Celebration of Life Service to be held.
