Obituary of Gerard Joseph Donat Aquin

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our dad, Gerard (Gerry) Joseph Donat Aquin on July 3, 2021, in Creston, BC, at the age of 87 years. Pops will be greatly missed by many family members and friends.

Gerard Joseph Donat Aquin was born on November 23, 1933, in Mearns, AB to parents Valeda and Adila Aquin.  He married Dawn Gladys Kinsella on July 30, 1955, and promptly had five boys all within seven years of age.  They enjoyed spending summer vacations camping until they bought their cabin at Floating Stone Lake, where they spent their summers with their family until they sold the cabin.  Gerry moved to Creston, BC, after his loving wife passed away in 2010, where he continued his love for hunting and fishing.  He built a new life and had many new friends in Creston, which came easy to him as he was such a friendly man.  Gerry met his companion Marion, and they enjoyed each other’s company playing cards.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Swan Valley Lodge for their care and compassion.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents Valeda and Adila Aquin, wife Dawn Aquin, sisters Alice Edwards and Simone Prefontaine, and brothers Ernie, Ferd, and Danny.

Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his five sons, Bruce (Sue), Darcy, Stan, Ron (Dawn) and Keith (Olesia), ten grandchildren Greg (Kristine), Deanna, Brad (Sasha), Matt (Karen), Jessica (Wayne), Danielle, Devon, Alanna (Hector), Carley and Thomas, ten great grandchildren, Adeja, Amari, Monique, Benjamin, Markus, Genevieve, Ezra, Aiden, Liam, and Josephine, sister Rita (John) Droog, brother-in-law Jack Edwards and longtime friend Marion Lloyd.

The family will be having a private family graveside service, after which, the family would like to invite all guests to a Celebration of Life Service at Polish Hall, 10960 – 104 Street, Edmonton, AB on Saturday July 17, 2021, which will begin at 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.
