Obituary of Lois Jean Thomson

Lois Jean Thomson, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family. 

Born on April 4, 1940, Lois was a woman of strength and determination who lived life on her own terms. 

Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering, which was evident in the way she tirelessly worked to provide for them. Not only did she raise 12 children, on her own, but she balanced her role as a mother with her long career at Creston Home Support, where she touched the lives of many in the community. 

She took so much pride in her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, often boasting about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. Her family's happiness and success were her greatest sources of joy. 

Lois had a passion for nature, especially flowers and gardening. With her remarkable green thumb, and a lot of hard work, he always left a space more beautiful than she found it. 

In any spare moment she could be found on the side of a mountain in a huckleberry patch, picnicking by a lake or on a spontaneous road trip with a few kids in tow. 

Lois will be remembered as a strong and independent woman who taught her family the value of resilience and thinking for themselves. "The good Lord gave you a brain and he expects you to use it," she often said. 

She leaves behind 11 children, 117 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren to mourn her passing. Waiting for her in heaven is her first baby, her husband, her parents and 6 siblings. 

As we bid farewell to our Mama and Grandma, we honor the remarkable life she lived and the countless lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing that her family will carry her memory forever in their hearts. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bountiful Community Hall.
