We sure miss Karl in Smithers. He was our favorite pilot, and he and Ginny were a vibrant part of our community during their time here. Our condolences to Ginny and the family. We can still hear his distinctive laugh. He will be brightening up Heaven with his laugh.

He was uncle Karl for my entire life. In the years since he quit flying I measured every pilot by his standards. He used to land in the yard with his Bell helicopter before he had his commercial license, he wouldn’t shut down, he knew that I at 5 yrs old would come running, with my pocket fisherman he had bought for Rocky and I and away we’d go!! Out to land on some lake (nakanilarak is one of my fondest memories) mom and dad would curse when he landed because the livestock would go a bit nuts but that didn’t stop him. I will forever remember watching old Clint Eastwood movies with him on the Burnt cabin or later when they moved to slack road. Lots of memories! He was “up there” as often as he could be and now he’s up there forever. May he rest in peace knowing he lived life to the fullest
