Obituary of Richard William Annett

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Richard (Rick) William Annett.  Surrounded by family, he died peacefully from a rapidly growing form of cancer on December 20, 2022 at 70 years of age. 

As a young boy, Rick and his two brothers went to live with their grandmother, Jessie Irene Annett.  

As a young adult, Rick attended barber school in Ontario and continued with this profession throughout  his life. For Rick, his clients were more than customers – they were his friends. He was a compassionate  listener and took the time to care for all who had the blessing of getting to know him. 

In 1974, he moved to the Fort St. John area to live in Christian community. He was drawn to farm life,  where he made lifelong, meaningful connections. Rick’s deep faith in God characterized all aspects of his  life. It was his great pleasure to praise the Lord in word and music. As an accomplished and talented pianist and musician, he could minister to people’s hearts and bring a sweet song of praise to the  Creator. Many times, Rick could be found at the hospital visiting the sick and spending hours with those  who were suffering.  

Rick loved God, his wife, and his tribes of people. There are hundreds of souls his pastor’s heart  touched. He was genuine in his love for God and people.  

He and his wife moved to Creston, BC in 2014 where he continued his barber business and made many new lasting friendships. He was a dedicated husband and caring friend. He will be lovingly remembered  and deeply missed. 

Rick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Elaine Annett, and his brother Max  Annett, as well as sister and brother in laws, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.  He is predeceased by his father and mother, William Glen and Margaret Elizabeth Annett and his brother, Marc Annett of St. Thomas, Ontario where he was born and spent his childhood.  

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at New Life Church, in Creston BC,  on January 14th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. MST
