Obituary of Michael James Gordon McNeil

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Michael James Gordon ‘Gord’ McNeil passed away on September 12, 2022, in Creston, BC at the age of 78 years.
Gord was born on January 18, 1944, in Vancouver, BC to parents Michael and Elizabeth McNeil. When Gord was 13 years old, he delivered groceries, after which he did a short stint in the Royal Navy. After the Navy, he worked at the Esso gas station and in 1966, started at Air Canada and always said he would be number on the ramp for Air Canada. As Gord had high security clearance, he worked many flights for highly important people such as the Popes, Queens, different Prime Ministers of Canada, US Presidents, and the prime minister Gandhi of India.
Gord had a love of cars, golf, camping, trains, motorized electric and gas cars, family history, Vancouver, and star gazing. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for 11 years and received an award for putting a fire out on a flight 745 – a DC-9. Hot dogs and Chinese food were his favourite cuisine.
Gord was predeceased by his father Michael McNeil, mother Elizabeth, brothers Ronald, Wally, and Neil, Loretta (Sergio) Pillon, granddaughter Emily Collins, and nephew Patrick.
Gord will be lovingly remembered by his wife Terry, daughter Corene (Joe) Collins, sisters Kathy McNeil and Donna (Harry) Lewald, grandchildren Brandon, Mariah, and Cameron Collins, sister-in-law Sandra McNeil, brother-in-law Albert (Kelly) Easthom, as well as many nieces and nephews.
