Obituary of Robert Austin Kepke

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Austin Kepke on September 2, 2022, in Creston B.C. with family by his side.

Bob was born in Barrhead, AB on May 13, 1952, and lived in Homes Crossing with his family until the flooding of Athabasca River when they relocated to Parson, BC. Between Parson and Golden, Bob completed school. During his high school days, Bob worked at the mill and from there this gave him his passion to pursue his career as a saw filer.  Bob married at the age of 24 and started his family having 2 daughters Tammy and Laura. They lived on a farm in upper Donald until health issues changed the course of his life. Bob and his family then moved to Creston, BC, and he later worked construction with his uncle Joe up until his health further declined.

Bob absolutely loved being in the outdoors, he was always telling stories and reminiscing about his many shenanigans! These would take him all over the countryside, from hunting in Alaska to salmon fishing in Campbell River. Bob was always helping neighbours, from cutting firewood to plowing driveways. He had numerous friends and family that he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and picking berries and mushrooms with. He was always making himself busy whether it was on his farm or someone else’s, just the way he liked it!

Bob was predeceased by his father Austin Kepke, mother Betty Kepke, brother Gary Kepke, and daughter Laura Hall.

Bob will be dearly missed by his daughter Tammy (Gino) Gagne, grandchildren Elisha Gagne, Tyler and Dallas Hall, great grandchildren Logan, Lucas, and Miah, sister Debbie Gudjonson, Mildred (Donald) Kepke as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in Creston, BC at Canyon Park, 4725 Samuelson Road, Canyon, BC, on September 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

There will also be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service in Golden, BC on September 17, 2022, at the Golden Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow at the Golden Legion (1011 11 Ave. S.) at 2:00 p.m.
