Obituary of Allan Douglas Reid

Allan Douglas ‘Doug’ Reid passed away on August 23, 2022, in Creston, BC at the age of 83 years, the beloved husband of Peggy Reid.

Doug was born in Winnipeg, MB, on December 9, 1938. Doug grew up on the fields of Blossom Park, playing sports with the friends that would last his entire life. They are affectionately known as the “Blossom Boys” and are celebrating yet another reunion in September 2022. He spent all spare time at the family cabin in Malachi, before relocating to Creston, BC.  Doug was active in curling and a founding member of The Coffin Dodgers baseball team.  Another passion Doug had was creating beautiful woodworking works of art.

Doug was predeceased by his parents J.C. and Muriel Reid, sister Marolyn Zieglgansberger, and great granddaughter Rannan Ray Didzun.

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife Peggy Reid, son Jim (Janet Holyk) Reid, grandchildren Mitch and Danielle (Brendon Payette) Reid, daughter Sandra (Gregg Branston) Didzun, grandchildren Tyler, Trevor (Chyanne), great grandchildren Kai and Jaxsyn.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday August 30, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the Canyon Park, 4725 Samuelson Road, Canyon, BC.  Please bring a chair and watch the Coffin Dodgers play a memorial game in Doug’s honour.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to JoeAnna’s House, 321 Royal Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 0G4, or to Swan Valley Lodge, PO Box 3000, Creston, BC V0B 1G0.
