Obituary of Robert Joseph Louie

With sadness, love, and profound gratitude, the family of Robert ‘Susap’ Joseph Louie announces his passing on August 3, 2022, in Creston, BC at the age of 72 years.

Robert was born on March 23, 1950, in Creston, BC to parents Isobel and Lazarus Louie.

Robert was the Hereditary Chief of the Flatbow Kutenai. He loved his people. In his most recent years, he spent much of his time documenting the traditional knowledge he was taught as a child in hopes of preserving the teachings for future generations.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Denice Louie, sons Rob Louie and Jason Louie, stepson Marcello Rojas, sister Carol Louie, as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

Robert was predeceased by his mother Isobel Louie, father Lazarus Louie, stepsons Nick Beaudry and Jason Beaudry, siblings, Irene, Adrian, Florine, Christine, Joan, and Wayne.

A Private Family Service was held Saturday August 6, 2022, at 6:00 a.m. with a Public Celebration of Life Service to be held on Saturday August 13, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the Lower Kootenay Band gymnasium.
